Bank of Russia authorises Sberbank and Lighthouse to issue digital financial assets
On 17 March, Russia’s central bank included the platforms Sberbank and Lighthouse in the register of information-system operators.
Obtaining this status gives the companies the right to issue and trade digital financial assets (DFAs) within the platforms.
“In about a month, legal entities will be able to perform the first operations on our blockchain platform. While we are at the beginning of the journey of working with digital assets, understanding that further development requires adaptation of the existing regulatory framework,” said at Sberbank.
The latter submitted an application to the Bank of Russia for registration of a blockchain platform with the subsequent issuance of a ruble-linked Sbercoin in January 2021.
Earlier in February, the tokenization platform Atomyze received the status of operator of the information system for CFA management.
