OpenSea adds Solana-based NFT support.

The OpenSea marketplace integrated support for Solana blockchain-based NFTs in beta, with a limited selection of collections.

In late March, the team promised to start the process with Nyan Heroes and Turtles.

As of writing, OpenSea supports 865,000 tokens across 165 NFT collections. Among them are Solana Monkey Business, DeGods, Degenerate Ape Academy, Aurory and Shadowy Super Coder.

Low fees and high transaction speeds on Solana have lowered the bar for NFT access, according to the marketplace page.

Unlike competitors Magic Eden and FTX NFT, OpenSea allows users to store tokens in their own wallet.

You don’t have to choose between liquidity and control. When you list an NFT, it stays in your wallet until it is sold. — the OpenSea site says

Amid the milestone, the Solana network faced technical issues. This was confirmed by the project’s founder Anatoly Yakovenko. In January, the outage lasted for 48 hours.

Solana became the fourth blockchain supported by OpenSea, after Ethereum, Polygon and Klaytn.

In January, OpenSea raised $300 million at a $13 billion valuation.
