Coinbase CEO Forecasts Crypto Users to Reach 1 Billion

Over the next decade, the number of people using cryptocurrencies is expected to rise from about 200 million to 1 billion. Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong expressed this view, according to BNN Bloomberg.

At the Milken Institute Global Conference, he said:

“I expect that within 10–20 years we will see a significant portion of GDP take place in the crypto economy.”

Katie Wood, head of ARK Investment Management and a participant in the session, shared his view. She also noted the rapid development of the DeFi sector, which is drawing more and more specialists.

“In the case of DeFi and the next-generation Internet, we see many financial companies losing talent to the crypto industry. So they must take this seriously, or they will be hollowed out,” Wood said.

According to her, regulatory uncertainty is hindering the promotion of cryptocurrencies in the United States. The rollout of a regulatory framework for the industry is progressing far more slowly than for the Internet, she says.

Armstrong noted that at the same time “it is becoming harder in Washington to find a true crypto skeptic.” In his assessment, about half of politicians now speak in favour of digital assets.
