The application is written in Rust. MyCitadel works with hardware wallets, the air gap feature, and watch-only wallets.
Full Taproot support enables arbitrarily configurable spending conditions, as well as the transmission of batched and partially signed transactions.

MyCitadel supports transfers via the Bitcoin Lightning Network micropayment network.
The project team noted that they tested the wallet across 10 transactions with multiple inputs and outputs — the total value of funds transferred amounted to $100 000.
“Although no funds were lost, the software should be regarded as experimental and should not be used to store funds you are not prepared to lose”, the developers wrote.
In November 2021, on the Bitcoin network activated the Taproot upgrade. This was the largest upgrade to the blockchain since the Segregated Witness (SegWit) protocol.
