Chainalysis launches hotline for victims of cryptocurrency crimes
Analytics firm Chainalysis запустила a 24/7 hotline to support organisations affected by ransomware and crypto-related cyberattacks.
Analysts at Chainalysis will track and flag moving funds. They will also help connect victims with law enforcement to recover assets that have already been stolen.
The hotline service is separate from Chainalysis’s analytics products—victims do not have to be active clients at the time of the attack.
The firm expects the initiative will complicate criminals’ ability to cash out stolen cryptocurrency and make it easier to apprehend them.
Overall, analysts view the ongoing rise in cyberattacks as an obstacle to bolstering trust in cryptocurrencies.
According to Chainalysis, in 2021 criminals targeting the cryptocurrency industry stole a record $14 billion.
