HTC unveils metaverse smartphone Desire 22 Pro

The Taiwanese company HTC has released the Desire 22 Pro smartphone with metaverse and NFT support.

The phone is pitched as a mid-range model with a 6.6-inch display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 processor. The device is compatible with the Viverse ecosystem and HTC’s VR products, such as the Vive Flow headset. The smartphone serves as a controller for the headset.

You can also manage digital assets, including NFTs, via the Vive Wallet app using Desire 22 Pro. Another service — Vive Avatar — lets users create virtual avatars.

The phone is equipped with a 64-megapixel main camera, with a 13 MP and 5 MP secondary sensors. The selfie camera features a 32 MP sensor.

Desire 22 Pro comes with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. The device runs Android 12.

Security is provided by a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The body is IP67 water- and dust-resistant.

Sales of the Desire 22 Pro are scheduled for July 1 at around $405.

In 2018, HTC introduced the first version of its Exodus 1 blockchain smartphone.

In a subsequent modification to the model, the company added support for a full Bitcoin node, cryptocurrency swaps and other features related to digital assets. In 2020, the Exodus 1s gained the ability to mine Monero (XMR).
