
Binance obtains licence to operate as a digital asset service provider in Spain
The cryptocurrency exchange Binance has obtained a licence to operate as a digital asset service provider in Spain. The Moon Tech Spain division has registered with the country’s central bank.
Hola Espana! 🇪🇸#Binance has been granted registration as a Virtual Asset Services Provider (VASP) for its Spanish subsidiary by the Bank of Spain.
This will allow Binance to offer crypto asset exchange & custody in Spain in compliance with the central bank’s AML & CTF rules.

The company can offer services across Spain in full compliance with the rules of AML and CTF. The regulator will also monitor compliance with standards of commercial and professional reputation.
The filing began on 28 January.
Spain became the third EU jurisdiction after Франции and Италии, where Binance also received approval from local regulators.
In September 2021, CEO Changpeng Zhao сообщил about abandoning the “decentralized” business model. Earlier, financial regulators in several countries, including the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Italy, Poland, Japan, Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Africa and a number of others, warned investors about the exchange’s activities.
As reported, in 2022 Bahrain, Dubai and the free zone of Abu Dhabi granted approval for Binance’s platform.
Binance also announced the launch of a regulated Bitcoin exchange in Thailand and announced the opening of a customer service centre in Turkey.
Earlier Zhao said he intended to obtain approval from the British FCA.
