Safe platform to conduct airdrop of governance token SAFE

The Safe platform for managing digital assets (formerly Gnosis Safe) will conduct an airdrop of the SAFE token. The proposal has been put before the community for consideration.

Of the total 50 million SAFE, 5% is expected to be allocated among 21,935 platform users who meet the criteria. These criteria included activity on the platform and the amount of assets held as of February 9, 2022.

On that date, GIP-29 proposed launching the SAFE governance token, forming a decentralised autonomous organisation SafeDAO, and creating an independent Safe Foundation in Switzerland to develop the ecosystem. It was supported by 99.6% of participants голосования in April.

In addition to the 5% for users, the shares in the SAFE distribution will be:

• 15% — core developers;
• 15% — Safe Foundation;
• 60% — SafeDAO and GnosisDAO treasuries;
• 5% — ecosystem projects.

For the latter, as for users, half of the tokens allocated are subject to a four-year vesting period.

The primary goals of the airdrop are to reward the most active users and to decentralise Safe governance.

In July, rebranded to Safe and raised $100 million in a strategic financing round.
