Zilliqa to release Web3 gaming console
In the first quarter of 2023, Zilliqa’s blockchain developers will unveil a console and launch a hub that will broaden the audience for Web3 games. The report comes from Decrypt.
Initially, two games are planned for release, including the first-person shooter WEB3WAR.
The research phase took six months. Full specifications and the device’s price have not been disclosed. The developers believe the console will pay for itself in the end.
The presented prototype provides support for HDMI, Ethernet, USB-C and USB 3.0 ports. The console integrates a crypto wallet and mining software.

Users will also earn Zilliqa (ZIL) by completing in-game skill-to-earn missions, tasks and quests. This is expected to increase decentralisation.
In recent months the project has stepped up its efforts to extend its footprint in gaming. In April Zilliqa joined the Blockchain Gaming Alliance. Partnerships are also developing with esports teams MAD Lions, RRQ, Alien Worlds and XBorg.
Zilliqa was launched in 2017. The project gained visibility for implementing sharding on its mainnet in 2019.
In July 2022, developersrestarted the mainnet after a smart-contract outage.
