Brett Harrison resigns as president of FTX US

On Tuesday, September 27, the president of FTX US, Brett Harrison, announced his resignation.

“Over the next few months I will hand over my duties and move into an advisory role at the company,” Harrison said.

The top executive joined FTX US in May 2021, after moving from Citadel Securities, the market-maker subsidiary of the hedge fund Citadel.

According to him, during that period the staff of the Chicago-based exchange exceeded 100 employees, LedgerX and Embed were acquired, and steps were taken toward shaping cryptocurrency policy in the United States.

FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried confirmed Harrison’s transition to an advisory role and announced that the US office would relocate to Miami. Mayor Francis Suarez welcomed the exchange’s decision.

The Block reported that the position would be filled by Zach Dexter. He had led LedgerX, and after its acquisition by FTX US headed the platform’s derivatives division. The company has not commented on the information yet.

The US arm of the exchange won the auction to sell the assets of the bankrupt lender Voyager Digital, offering about $1.4 billion.

Earlier it was reported that FTX would raise $1 billion and confirm the valuation of the previous funding round at $32 billion.
