Lifecell and WhiteBIT Enable Offline Cryptocurrency Transactions
Lifecell, the mobile operator, and the cryptocurrency exchange WhiteBIT have enabled users to make cryptocurrency transactions even when there is no internet connection.
The companies have linked the exchange’s blockchain ecosystem with communications services via the channel USSD.
As a result, lifecell subscribers can operate with the WhiteBIT platform while roaming without the need for an internet connection.
Using USSD commands, users have access to:
- check exchange rates for USDT, BTC, UAH, WBT pairs;
- detailed information on total and trading balances;
- transfers between wallets;
- buying and selling cryptocurrencies and depositing funds.
Lifecell notes the high security of this communications channel, as the mobile operator transmits transactions through a secure environment.
When registering on WhiteBIT before December 31, 2022, lifecell subscribers receive 5 GB of mobile data, and on their first purchase of Bitcoin — up to 50 GB and 1000 minutes for calls within Ukraine.
In the future the companies plan to enable funding mobile accounts with cryptocurrencies and funding the WhiteBIT wallet from mobile.
In August, the WhitePay platform, part of the WhiteBIT ecosystem, launched cryptocurrency payments at major electronics retailers in Ukraine, including Техно Їжак and Stylus.
