Central African Republic delays listing of Sango Coin to 2023

The Central African Republic (CAR) postponed the listing of the national digital currency Sango Coin to the first quarter of 2023. This was stated in the project’s Telegram channel.

“Due to current market conditions, and taking into account other marketing reasons (such as the holiday season and the traditional slowdown of any sales worldwide in January and February), we are postponing the listing of SANGO,” the channel moderators said.

They added that they could not provide further details until an official statement from the project team. It is not known on which platforms the listing was planned.

On July 3, President Faustin-Archange Touadéra presented the national digital currency. The country planned to use Sango Coin to create a cryptocurrency economy based on private investment.

Public sales of the coin, released on a Bitcoin sidechain, began in the same month. For purchase, 210 million SANGO were available at a price of $0.10. In the first stage, the minimum investment was $500, and the lock-up period was one year.

In April, the CAR confirmed the first cryptocurrency as a means of payment alongside the local franc.

Later it emerged that authorities planned to create a cryptocurrency hub and a special economic zone in the metaverse.
