Coinbase launches public campaign to back cryptocurrencies

The American bitcoin exchange Coinbase launched the Crypto435 initiative, aimed at promoting understanding and support for cryptocurrencies among policymakers and regulators.

The time has come to advance pro-crypto policy in all 435 Congressional Districts of the United States. Introducing Crypto435 — our campaign to build the crypto advocacy community and share tools and resources to ensure your voice is heard, the statement said.

In the framework of the initiative, Coinbase will provide Americans who wish with information on how to contact their representatives, outline their views on digital assets, and supply the materials and guidance needed to influence members of Congress.

The company stressed that there is a need for thoughtful policy and sensible regulation so that we can continue to advance crypto and Web3 and make progress in our mission to increase economic freedom.

Coinbase lists Crypto435’s core aims as:

• influence laws and policy;
• bring together the crypto community;
• promote innovation and safeguard jobs;
• inform ordinary Americans about the benefits of cryptocurrencies.

Earlier, in February, Blockchain Association policy director Jake Chervinsky described training of members of Congress in properly representing cryptocurrencies as one of the measures to counter regulatory pressure on the industry.
