Polygon’s Chief Product Officer Anurag Arjun has left his post, acquiring a project based on the Avail scaling solution. The Block reports.

The platform launched a testnet in 2022. The initiative was positioned as a data-availability layer for solutions built on zero-knowledge proofs.

Representatives from Polygon Labs said that Arjun plans to create a separate project based on the aforementioned development.

“Over time, the structure of [Avail] will become a decentralized organisation. The timeline of this evolution has not yet been defined, and the primary task is to ensure a smooth separation from Polygon”, the company said.

To facilitate the separation, Arjun will establish the Avail Foundation, a nonprofit organization. Ultimately, the project will come under community governance.

Part of the development team will join the new organisation.

“I have a great personal relationship with Anurag. I could invest in his new venture”, added Polygon co-founder Sandeep Nailwal.

Project representatives declined to provide details about funding and the creation of a new token.

Earlier this week, Polygon unveiled the domain name service, developed in collaboration with Unstoppable Domains.
