Developers unveil a single-nominator smart contract for TON validators

Infrastructure provider Orbs developed a single-nominator smart contract for validators of the TON network. The solution uses isolated cold wallets and eliminates reliance on intermediaries, ensuring secure transaction confirmation, according to the press release.

The tool for launching a node in the TON network is distributed free of charge. The source code has been vetted by Certik specialists and is available for review.

The solution offers a simplified alternative to the TON team’s smart contract for a nominators pool, significantly reducing the attack surface.

This is achieved through:

  • the separation of the hot wallet of the validator node from the funds held in staking;
  • protection against attacks related to gas spending;
  • an option to change the validator address in case of wallet compromise;
  • the ability to restore stake in emergencies, such as an upgrade of the electors.

Orbs argues that the single-nominator smart contract sets a new industry standard for such solutions.

The development team is known for the TON Minter and TON Contract Verifier projects.

Using a multi-layer blockchain stack, Orbs acts as a separate execution layer. It sits between L1 and L2 networks and the application layer, providing a decentralized server for smart contracts.

In December 2021, Pavel Durov publicly supported the Toncoin team. The project’s token rose by 46%.

Autumn 2022 on the Fragment platform, began the sale of Telegram usernames for Toncoin. Later the messenger opened the possibility to register anonymous accounts using blockchain-based numbers.

In February 2023, the TON developers presented a roadmap for this year.
