ChatGPT users fell by 10%

From May to June, global traffic to the ChatGPT chatbot fell by 10%, and the number of unique users by 5.7%. This is according to data from Similarweb.

Time spent using the AI-powered tool declined by 8.5%. It marked the first time in OpenAI’s app history that it recorded negative figures.

Despite the traffic decline, ChatGPT still leads competitors such as Google Bard, Microsoft Bing, and Character AI.

Upwork’s Chief Strategy Officer Tim Sander suggested that this dynamic could be linked to students on summer holidays. The chatbot is also used less in corporate work. In his view, ChatGPT has lost its novelty and has become less interesting to ordinary users.

Another Twitter user claimed that the published data were inaccurate, as the study did not account for iOS app statistics. In May, OpenAI released the ChatGPT app in the App Store.

Earlier in June, Elliptic added support for ChatGPT to improve blockchain analytics.

In the same month, the Hedera Hashgraph project team integrated a plugin based on the chatbot’s language model.

Earlier, the Italian regulator called for blocking ChatGPT, accusing OpenAI of \”illegal collection of personal data\”.
