
CertiK: September sets 2023 high for hack-related losses
In September, the amount stolen by criminals ($329.8 million) was the highest in 2023. Such estimates were provided by CertiK analysts.
Combining all the incidents in September we’ve confirmed ~$332M lost to exploits, hacks and scams.
Exit scams were ~$1.9M

Experts estimated losses from exit scams at $1.9 million, from flash loan attacks at $0.4 million, and from phishing at $25 million.
The largest contribution to the final figure came from the breach of the cross-chain protocol Mixin ($200 million).
Other major episodes included incidents related to the CoinEx exchange ($53 million) and the crypto casino Stake.com ($41 million).
With September included, year-to-date industry losses reached $1.34 billion, including breaches ($925.4 million).
As Beosin notes, losses from attacks and scams in the third quarter totaled $889 million.
