YouTube to label videos created with AI
Updated YouTube guidelines включают requirements for disclosure of AI-created content, new standards for “sensitive topics” and the removal of deepfakes.
“We will require authors to disclose when they are shaping altered or synthetic material, including the use of artificial intelligence tools,” — the document states.
According to YouTube, the information will appear as a label in the description. If the content concerns “delicate topics”— elections, ongoing conflicts, public health crises and officials — a more prominent badge will appear in the video player.
YouTube pledged to engage with creators to better understand the new guidelines.
Content that does not comply will be removed. Those who disagree may face removal from the Partner Program or face other penalties, the leadership warned.
Separately the service addressed AI-generated deepfakes. YouTube will roll out a new feature allowing users to request the removal of synthetic video that imitates an identifiable person, including their face or voice, through a privacy request process.
The guidelines also warned about removing AI-generated music or content that imitates an artist’s distinctive singing.
In September, Google introduced new AI-powered features that will speed up content creation for YouTube.
In August, YouTube’s CEO Neal Mohan shared plans to deploy artificial intelligence in the music industry. He noted the rapid development of the technology and outlined the platform’s principles for its integration.
