Residents of Togliatti uncover mining farm in the basement of a building.

Residents of the Sunny housing complex in Togliatti discovered a mining farm in the basement of one of the buildings, allegedly belonging to the management company. According to «Известия».

Locals decided to check their building for crypto-mining devices after reading about a similar case nearby.

In the locked basement room there really was “something very similar to a mining farm.”

At the same time, residents complained about a lack of heating in the building — temperatures in the apartments do not rise above 16–18°C.

According to them, the farm belongs to the housing management company, which is currently undergoing bankruptcy proceedings. Residents fear that the housing management’s debts will be left to them. They cannot disconnect the equipment from the building’s utilities themselves.

Statements regarding the discovery have been filed with the police and the prosecutor’s office.

In October, the Tomsk Water Utility was implicated in cryptocurrency mining.
