Media reports on the kidnapping of a Bitcoin miner in Izhevsk

A gang of extortionists abducted a cryptocurrency miner in Izhevsk and demanded a ransom of 15 million rubles. This was reported by РЕН ТВ, citing sources.

The incident occurred on December 25. Three men abducted a 23-year-old man from the yard of his house. The young man was placed into a Lada Niva registered to a pensioner from Perm, and taken to an unknown destination.

Subsequently the attackers called the miner’s brother via Telegram and demanded 15 million rubles. Otherwise they threatened to plant drugs on the abductee and hand him over to the police.

According to the channel, one of the extortionists was personally acquainted with the victim. All three had prior convictions, including for robbery and extortion. They now face up to 12 years in prison.

Back in December 2019, in Saint Petersburg, fake FSB officers abducted cryptocurrency worth 55 million rubles under the threat of torture.
