Abkhaz authorities report 6,000 confiscated crypto-mining devices stored in a warehouse
The president of Abkhazia, Aslan Bzhaniya, spoke of six thousand confiscated cryptocurrency mining devices that are currently stored in a dedicated warehouse. This was reported by Sputnik.
According to him, large mining farms in Abkhazia are practically gone, but residents still own around 30,000 devices.
In Abkhazia, raids take place regularly to identify and disconnect equipment used for cryptocurrency mining. As a result, in July residents of several villages organized a protest action, but the raids continued.
The head of one of the branches of “Chernomornego” Akhra Gaguliya said that searching and confiscating equipment does not solve the problem of illegal mining, and proposed to seize illegally installed transformers.
Last year, authorities introduced a ban on mining due to electricity shortages in Abkhazia. Later, the restrictions were extended to 2022, and imposed fines for violations.
