On 1 April, the Abkhazian cabinet extended restrictions on cryptocurrency miners. The corresponding decree was published on the official site.
Until 31 December 2022, cryptocurrency mining and the import of goods intended for carrying out this activity are prohibited in the republic.
In 2020, Abkhazia introduced a ban on mining amid power shortages and frequent outages on the grid due to overloads.
Later, authorities approved fines and criminal liability for engaging in such activity.
