Abkhazia shuts down 23 mining farms.

In raids aimed at curbing illegal electricity consumption, the Abkhazian Ministry of Internal Affairs identified and shut down 23 mining farms, according to the пресс-служба.

Two farms housing a total of 517 devices were detected in the Galsky District. 117 devices were seized in the Omicharsky District.

In Sukhumi, raids uncovered 25 devices in the private sector and 60 miners at one of the hotels. Two farms were disconnected in the Sukhumsky District.

Overall, during May raids, law enforcement disconnected about 870 devices used for cryptocurrency mining.

The Ministry stressed that the agency conducts daily checks to identify illegal miners and monitors previously disconnected facilities.

Earlier in March, extended the mining ban until 2022 and approved penalties and criminal liability for cryptocurrency mining.
