Abkhazia’s Interior Ministry reports more than 1,000 illegal miners identified

The Abkhazian Ministry of Internal Affairs and energy-oversight specialists identified 14 mining farms that illegally consumed electricity in a week. The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported this.

In the Sukhumi district, law enforcement officers uncovered more than 1,000 devices for cryptocurrency mining, and in the Gulripshi District — about 600 devices.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs stressed that raids to verify miners’ connections to the power grid and the existence of mining permits are ongoing.

As per decrees of the Abkhazian government, miners must register as a legal entity or individual entrepreneur.
