Acala and Manta Network open bridge between Kusama parachains Karura and Calamari

The Acala and Manta Network projects opened an HRMP channel between Karura and Calamari parachains in Kusama, Polkadot’s experimental network. ForkLog was informed by representatives of the teams.

“The opening of a new HRMP channel and the successful deployment of cross-consensus connectivity to connect assets will ensure privacy and compatibility in both parachains,” the developers noted.

In May 2022, the Polkadot developers launched the XCM messaging system, which enables communication between different parachains. While XCM is still under development, projects are using an intermediate protocol — HRMP.

The channel enables transferring the aUSD stablecoin from Acala and Karura’s native tokens (KAR) between parachains. In the future, the Manta Network team plans to integrate other ecosystem participants with Calamari.

Calamari is a platform that uses zk-SNARK technology to provide transaction privacy and on-chain swaps.

Karura is positioned as a DeFi hub of Kusama’s experimental network. In November, the Acala project won the first Polkadot parachain auction. Its team is developing a range of decentralized products, including the algorithmic stablecoin aUSD, a non-custodial exchange, and DOT-based derivatives.

Earlier in March 2022, Acala launched a $250 million fund to promote its stablecoin.
