Adobe Unveils ‘Photoshop’ for Musicians

Adobe has introduced an AI product designed to help individuals create and edit music without professional experience.

Project Music GenAI Control enables the generation of audio tracks using prompts. Editing occurs within the tool without the need for external applications.

The company claims that the neural network can adjust generated audio based on a given melody. There is also the option to extend the track to achieve the desired length.

“Our product can be compared to Photoshop. It gives creative individuals complete control over audio creation and editing. It’s literally music control at the pixel level,” said Nicholas Bryan, Senior Research Scientist at Adobe Research.

To demonstrate the capabilities of Project Music GenAI Control, content in the public domain was uploaded. However, it remains unclear whether copyrighted audio recordings can be directly added as examples.

The AI product is being developed in collaboration with the University of California and Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Computer Science. Progress on Project Music GenAI can be followed on the Adobe Labs website.

The tool is not yet publicly available, and its release date has not been announced.

Earlier in February, Adobe introduced an AI assistant for working with PDF files.
