AgriFORCE Launches Bitcoin Mining Using Flare Gas

Canadian agribusiness firm AgriFORCE has initiated its first cryptocurrency mining operation in Alberta, powered by flare gas.

The facility is located in Berwyn. In its initial phase, the site has a capacity of 425 kW, equipped with 120 Bitmain S21 ASIC miners, achieving a total hash rate exceeding 32 PH/s. In the second phase, the company plans to add another 200 kW.

The firm has also signed an agreement with BlueFlare to add an additional 1.3 MW of capacity across two new sites in the same province. This infrastructure will be available for mining, AI computations, and other tasks.

“We are not waiting for permits or grid upgrades — we are converting gas to computing power in weeks, not years,” stated AgriFORCE CEO Jolie Kan.

The company aims to increase its hash rate to 0.5 EH/s by the end of 2025, with a target of 1 EH/s by the first quarter of 2026.

AgriFORCE has already mined 7 BTC, valued at approximately $735,000, at its facilities in Alberta and Ohio.

According to its strategy, the firm may retain up to half of the mined coins in reserve, with the remainder allocated for expanding operations. The company may also use up to 50% of raised capital for direct Bitcoin purchases.

Back in May 2024, American miner Genesis Digital Assets opened a data center in Argentina to mine cryptocurrency using energy from flare gas combustion.
