The use of artificial intelligence in the US education sector has seen significant growth. This is reported by CNBC, citing a study by Impact Research.
Over the past year, the number of teachers familiar with the ChatGPT chatbot increased from 55% to 79%. Among K–12 students, the figure rose from 37% to 75%.
46% of teachers and 48% of students reported using ChatGPT at least once a week. For the latter, AI usage increased by 27% compared to the previous year.
70% of students have a positive attitude towards AI chatbots. Among college students, this figure is 75%, and among parents, it is 68%.
“The level of AI adoption in the education system is higher than in the workforce. Students, who have a strong incentive to seek help, are pulling teachers along,” commented Ethan Mollick, a professor at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and an AI expert.
59% of teachers have a positive attitude towards AI-based chatbots. 20% stated that ChatGPT has a negative impact.
Teachers and parents over 45 are less likely to be confident in their ability to effectively use AI.
25% of surveyed teachers have undergone some training on working with chatbots. 32% believe that the lack of training and professional development are the main reasons they do not use AI.
Apple is set to integrate ChatGPT into Siri and other services in its iOS, iPadOS, and macOS operating systems.
Earlier, Google integrated generative AI into its search engine.
In May, OpenAI unveiled the latest chatbot model — GPT-4o. The neural network has become “more human-like” and has learned to process visual data.
