AI Service for Cyberattacks Emerges on the Dark Web

Experts have discovered a new AI tool on dark web forums designed to automate email attacks, called SpamGPT. It is being touted as a “revolution” for cybercriminals.

The platform is intended for hacking mail servers, bypassing spam filters, and organizing large-scale phishing campaigns.

SpamGPT combines the capabilities of generative AI with a suite of tools for email distribution. It lowers the barrier for launching spam and phishing attacks on a large scale.

The tool’s interface and features mimic professional email marketing services. It includes modules for campaign management, SMTP/IMAP configuration, delivery testing, and analytics, offering all the conveniences a standard marketer would expect.

Creators promote SpamGPT as a comprehensive spam-as-a-service platform. It features an AI assistant that generates phishing content and suggests optimizations.

This allows attackers to delegate the writing of convincing emails, subject line variations, or promotional advice to artificial intelligence.

The platform promises guaranteed delivery of emails to the inboxes of popular email services (Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, Microsoft 365, etc.), implying its fine-tuning to bypass filters.

SpamGPT offers a training program, purportedly revealing secret techniques for hacking SMTP servers and creating unlimited accounts on demand.

The platform also facilitates the use of spoofing techniques: the interface allows setting multiple sender identities and configuring email headers, enabling impersonation of trusted domains or brands.

Back in September, hackers breached a popular developer on the NPM platform and injected malicious code into JavaScript packages to drain cryptocurrency wallets.
