AI to Judge Usyk vs Fury Rematch

The rematch between heavyweight champions of the WBC, WBO, and WBA, Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury, will feature AI as a judge in an experimental role. This is reported by Forbes.

Thanks to neural networks, the system is “free from bias and human error.” However, the AI’s scores will not affect the official decision.

Many judges have faced criticism due to potential corruption risks, the publication notes. Assigning fight judging to artificial intelligence could ensure a higher level of transparency and objectivity.

In the future, fighters and coaches will be able to study AI judging criteria to do everything necessary for victory. Open scoring could eliminate guesswork.

It is unknown which company developed and will manage the AI judge. Forbes speculates it might be Jabbr. Using artificial intelligence, the company has been providing statistics for combat sports for over a year.

The rematch between Usyk and Fury is scheduled for December 21, 2024, at the “Kingdom Arena” in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Back in December, Microsoft introduced nine real-world applications of artificial intelligence.
