Amazon chief signals NFT sales on the company’s platform in the future

Amazon does not intend to integrate cryptocurrencies as a payment mechanism on its platform, but may sell NFTs in the future. This was stated by CEO Andy Jassy in an interview with CNBC.

\”We may not be close to adding cryptocurrencies as a payment mechanism in our retail business, but I believe this industry will grow over time,\” said Jassy.

He noted that he personally does not own Bitcoin or other digital assets. At the same time, the head of Amazon stressed that he expects \”significant growth\” in the NFT sector and allows for the sale of non-fungible tokens on the company’s platform in the future.

Jassy succeeded Jeff Bezos as CEO of Amazon in February 2021. Before that, he led the Amazon Web Services division, where under his leadership the blockchain platform Amazon Managed Blockchain was launched.

In July 2021, media reported plans for the corporation to add support for Bitcoin payments, but Amazon denied this information. In the same month, the company posted a vacancy for a project lead in the field of digital currencies and blockchain.

In November, PayPal announced a collaboration with Amazon, under which Amazon customers could pay for purchases via Venmo.
