The number of cryptocurrency holders in The Open Network (TON) project is expected to surpass that of Ethereum by approximately December 20, according to CryptoQuant contributor known as maartunn.
“Currently, there are 137 million ETH holders, while TON has reached 112 million. Over the past month, the number of TON followers has been increasing by 500,000 daily. If this trend continues, it could exceed the number of Ethereum holders by the end of the year,” the specialist commented.
However, maartunn does not rule out that the growth rate of TON holders may slow somewhat. In such a case, the aforementioned event would occur in early February 2025.
The expert also noted that the number of ETH holders is growing, albeit at barely noticeable rates, but “capable of affecting the projected dates.”
“It is only a matter of time before TON holders outnumber ETH holders,” maartunn emphasized.
At the time of writing, TON ranks 11th on CoinGecko with a market capitalization of $12.7 billion; Ethereum’s stands at $315.7 billion.
According to DeFiLlama, TVL in The Open Network ecosystem amounts to $389 million. The largest dapps are Tonstakers, STON.fi, and DeDust.
In early September, the TON blockchain surpassed 1 billion transactions.
