
Andreessen Horowitz hires NYSE regulatory chief
Anthony Albanese left his post at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) for a role at the leading Silicon Valley venture firm Andreessen Horowitz (a16z). reported by the general partner of a16z, Katy Haun.
Before his new appointment, Albanese headed NYSE’s legal department, and earlier worked at the New York State Department of Financial Services. In mid-November he will become head of the regulatory affairs department at a16z.
In this role, Albanese will work with regulators and advise the company’s portfolio companies on issues such as hiring and strategy.
“He will work with the cryptocurrency policy adviser Jeff Amico, who recently joined us from Cravath Swaine & Moore and was general counsel at Airswap,” noted Haun.
In September, co-founder Marc Andreessen joined the board of directors of the cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase as an observer. His predecessor Chris Dixon, as well as DFJ Growth partner Barry Shuler, left the company but remained as consultants.
