Animoca Brands backs Indian gaming startup in $10 million round

Indian gaming company nCore Games raised $10 million in a funding round led by Animoca Brands and Galaxy Interactive.

Participants included the blockchain project Polygon, Hyperedge Capital and a number of angel investors.

\n\n\n

The firm operates several game studios, including Studio nCore, Dot9 Games and IceSpice. Its portfolio includes multiplayer action games Fau-G and Pro Cricket Mobile.

\n\n\n

According to co-founder Vishal Gondal, the funding is expected to be primarily used to expand the metaverse. nCore Games is also considering issuing its own tokens and NFTs. The firm intends to develop new offerings in Web 3.0.

«This is one of our most promising investments in India, which has a large gaming market with huge growth potential,» said Yat Siu, chairman and co-founder of Animoca Brands.

In December, Animoca Brands supported the gaming blockchain company Rainmaker Games in a seed round of $6.5 million.
