Animoca Brands' reserves exceed $5 billion

As of 30 April 2022, the reserves of the Hong Kong-based blockchain-gaming operator Animoca Brands in fiat and digital currencies exceeded $5 billion. The company said this in an investor report.

During the third quarter of 2021 and the first four months of 2022, Animoca Brands’ revenue amounted to roughly $721 million. The figure includes revenue from NFT sales, including on the secondary market, and from non-blockchain assets. Other income consisted of gains/losses from investment activity and results from holdings of digital currencies.

As of 30 April, the company had invested more than $1.5 billion in over 340 projects, including Colossal, Axie Infinity, OpenSea, Dapper Labs (NBA Top Shot), Yield Guild Games, Harmony, Alien Worlds and Star Atlas, among others.

The cash balance stood at around $98 million in fiat and around $211 million in USDC, USDT, BUSD, ETH and BTC. Reserves in other digital currencies reached around $659 million.

The firm also holds tokens from its owned projects that are not included in the balance sheet, with a total value of around $4.2 billion. Among these assets: SAND, QUIDD, PRIMATE, REVV, TOWER, GMEE and others.

The aggregate volume of the company’s reserves reached around $5.07 billion by the end of the reporting period.

Earlier in January, Animoca Brands attracted $358.9 million at a valuation of $5 billion.
