Anthony Hopkins film to be sold as an NFT

The premiere of the film “Zero Contact,” featuring two-time Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins, will take place on the non-fungible token (NFT) platform Vuele, Deadline reports.

The 83-year-old actor is best known for his portrayal of the serial killer Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs and its sequels.

In Zero Contact, Hopkins plays tech magnate Finley Hart. Five other characters discover Hart’s secret invention—a machine that could either solve all problems or destroy life on Earth. They are forced to work together to shut the device down.

Enderby Entertainment shot the film during the pandemic remotely using Zoom video conferencing in 17 different locations.

“Everything about this film is unconventional—from how we shot it using Zoom and remote production to its distribution,” said producer and director Rick Dagdale.

According to him, the film will be released in four or five installments on the Vuele platform. The NFTs will include the film as well as additional services that vary across tokens. What exactly will be included as extras remains to be determined, the director noted.

The idea is to present a digital product for different price tiers, hosted on the blockchain and with a unique serial number, Dagdale explained.

“This creates a scarcity of copies of the film and protects against piracy,” he added.

Earlier, filmmaker, producer and actor Kevin Smith announced the sale of his new horror film as an NFT.
