Following in the footsteps of Meta, Anthropic has opened its AI technologies to U.S. intelligence and defense agencies. The company has partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Palantir, according to a statement from the latter.
The U.S. government will gain access to the Claude 3 and 3.5 large language model family on AWS.
“The partnership enables the creation of an integrated set of technologies for the operational use of Claude within Palantir’s artificial intelligence platform, leveraging the security, flexibility, and resilience provided by AWS,” claims Palantir.
The U.S. defense and intelligence services will receive a suite of tools for “secure use of AI models in critical missions,” noted the company’s Chief Technology Officer, Shyam Sankar.
Potential applications include:
- rapid processing of vast amounts of complex data;
- enhancing the level of analytical information;
- efficient pattern and trend recognition;
- optimizing document verification and preparation;
- assisting U.S. officials in making more informed decisions in urgent situations.
Palantir Technologies is an American technology company specializing in data analysis software development.
Previously, institutions linked to the People’s Liberation Army of China used Meta’s publicly available neural network to develop a tool potentially suitable for military purposes.
In June, China developed an AI commander for military simulations.
