
Anthropic Secures $3.5 Billion Valuation at $61.5 Billion
AI startup Anthropic has closed a new funding round, securing $3.5 billion at a valuation of $61.5 billion.
Anthropic has raised $3.5 billion at a $61.5 billion post-money valuation, led by Lightspeed Venture Partners.
This will advance our development of AI systems, deepen our understanding of how they work, and fuel our international expansion.

The round was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners with participation from Bessemer Venture Partners, Cisco Investments, D1 Capital Partners, Fidelity Management & Research Company, General Catalyst, Jane Street, Menlo Ventures, Salesforce Ventures, and others.
The funds will be used for further development of AI systems, expansion of computing capabilities, research in mechanistic interpretability, and accelerating international expansion.
The company highlighted the application of its products by various firms in their business processes and solutions, including Cursor, Codeium, Zoom, Snowflake, Pfizer, Replit, Novo Nordisk, Alexa+, and Thomson Reuters.
Anthropic, an AI startup actively supported by Amazon, was founded by Dario Amodei, his sister Daniela Amodei, and other former OpenAI employees. It introduced the chatbot Claude in March 2023.
The company’s intention to raise $3.5 billion was revealed in late February.
Earlier, OpenAI secured $6.6 billion at a valuation of $157 billion.
In February, Anthropic unveiled its “most intelligent model,” Claude 3.7 Sonnet. This hybrid neural network allows for both “virtually instantaneous responses” and “lengthy step-by-step reasoning.”
