Anthropic has transformed Claude into an AI agent, enabling the bot to use a computer to perform tasks.
You can now enable Claude to use your computer to complete tasks.
It opens your apps, navigates your browser, fills in spreadsheets—anything you’d do sitting at your desk.

Users can assign tasks to the digital assistant even from their phones. It can open applications on a computer, manage the browser, and fill out spreadsheets.
In one example, a user running late for a meeting asked Claude to export a presentation to PDF and attach it to an invitation. The chatbot successfully completed the task.
“Prompt from your phone, do something else, and then return to the completed work on your computer. Just ask Claude once to check your email every morning or generate a report on Fridays—he’ll take care of it,” states the Anthropic website.
The company cautioned that computer usage is “still in its early stages compared to Claude’s capabilities in programming or text work.”
“The chatbot can make mistakes. While we continue to improve safeguards, threats are constantly evolving,” stated representatives of the startup.
According to Anthropic, the computer interaction feature is implemented “with risk minimization.” Claude always requests permission to access new applications.
Before executing a task, Claude presents a plan and waits for approval. At any stage, the task can be clarified or a different approach chosen.
The service is available in Claude Cowork and Claude Code (macOS only). To use it, one must access the Cowork section.
In March, Claude by Anthropic topped the list of free apps in the US App Store, pushing OpenAI’s ChatGPT to second place.
