Apple denies Pavel Durov's claim that it demanded the blocking of Telegram channels

Apple says it did not push for the removal of Telegram channels that publish data on Belarusian law enforcement officers. Representatives of Apple told TJ.

According to them, complaints from users about the disclosure of personal data without consent were forwarded to Telegram. The messenger pledged to review them and provide a report on the investigation.

Apple said it did not demand blocking channels, but insisted on the immediate removal of information disclosing personal data, and content aimed at specific individuals.

Earlier, Pavel Durov wrote that Apple demanded the closure of three Telegram channels containing the data of Belarusian security personnel.

He noted that he would have preferred not to touch the channels, but usually “Apple does not leave much room for apps like Telegram.”
