Apple to Integrate AI into Mixed Reality Headset, Reports Suggest
Apple is reportedly working on integrating Apple Intelligence into its Vision Pro mixed reality headset, according to sources cited by Bloomberg.
From a technical standpoint, the integration should not pose a problem, the agency noted. The device’s 16 GB memory is sufficient for AI operations, and new features such as writing tools, ChatGPT, and an enhanced Siri are suitable for Vision Pro, especially if the Cupertino-based company continues to position the glasses as a tool for work and computing tasks.
The greater challenge will be for the user interface design team to implement the correct display of new features in the mixed reality environment, Bloomberg believes.
The agency highlighted the strain on Apple’s cloud computing infrastructure as one of the issues. This is one reason why the company decided to add AI features only to new devices. Since Vision Pro has not been sold on a large scale, the described problem should not be too significant.
According to Bloomberg, Apple Intelligence will not appear in the mixed reality headset this year.
In June, Apple announced the integration of ChatGPT and a large-scale Apple Intelligence initiative on the iPhone 15 Pro, iPad, and Mac with M1 chips or newer.
Elon Musk threatened to ban the corporation’s devices in his companies if the plan is implemented due to security concerns.
Earlier, Apple canceled the launch of its AI in the EU in 2024 due to “regulatory uncertainty.”
