Apple unveils passwordless registration with Face ID and Touch ID

Appleintroduced a new Passkeys technology for signing up to websites without passwords. The company proposed using biometric authentication.

Sites that support the technology will ask visitors to enter a desired name during registration. Thereafter, they will be able to authenticate using Face ID or Touch ID.

Passkeys will appear on iPhone, iPad and Mac by the end of 2021 in a preview version. It will be disabled by default.

In addition to the option to register using Face ID and Touch ID, Apple has also created APIs for hardware security keys in macOS Monterey and iOS 15.

As reported in March 2021, it was announced that Apple acquired the most AI startups in the past four years.

In March, the France Digitale association accused the Cupertino company in collecting user data without their consent.

In December 2020 Apple released an update for iOS that allows users to disable data collection within apps. The new rules provoked a wave of discontent from app developers, led by Facebook and Google.
