Apple Unveils Siri AI and Expands Apple Intelligence

At WWDC 2026, Apple introduced Siri AI, a new version of its assistant powered by Apple Intelligence for its main line of gadgets. The English-language test solution will launch later in 2026.

The updated AI-based Siri can understand personal context and screen content, access current internet data, and perform actions with apps. The assistant can search for information in messages, mail, photos, and other sources.

Apple Intelligence supports everyday system scenarios:

Apple clarified that Siri AI is built on the next generation of Apple Intelligence and uses Apple Foundation Models (AFM), which operate both locally on the device and via the cloud. When processing requests remotely, user personal data is neither stored nor transmitted.

The company also updated developer tools. The AFM stack, which the company calls a native Swift API, now supports multimodal requests and external language models like Claude and Gemini.

The announcement comes amid controversy over delays of previous Siri AI features. In May, Apple agreed to settle a $250 million consumer class action lawsuit. The company was accused of overstating the advertised capabilities of artificial intelligence before the release of Phone 16.

Earlier, in February, media reported on Apple’s plans to release an AI pendant and headphones with cameras.
