Argo Blockchain to launch a green Bitcoin mining pool

The mining company Argo Blockchain plans to create a Bitcoin mining pool that will use only clean energy.

The corresponding memorandum of understanding was signed with blockchain company DMG Blockchain Solutions.

\n\n\n

Initially, Terra Pool will combine the hashrates of both partners, generated primarily from hydroelectric resources.

\n\n\n

According to the press release, the initiative aims to accelerate the industry\’s transition to clean energy to reduce the environmental impact of Bitcoin mining.

\n\n\n

\”Addressing climate change is a priority for Argo, and the partnership with DMG to create the first ‘green’ Bitcoin mining pool is an important step on the path to protecting our planet now and for future generations. We hope that other companies in the industry will follow our lead,\” said Argo CEO Peter Wall.

\n\n\n

Bitcoin critics have traditionally pointed to the high energy consumption of cryptocurrency mining, which, in their view, leads to higher carbon emissions. However, industry experts say the concerns about the environmental harm caused by the industry are exaggerated.

Earlier in Texas, Argo bought a land plot spanning 185 football fields for a Bitcoin mining data center powered by renewable energy.
