The information provided by AP includes financial data, details of electoral races, and results of sporting events. All materials are protected by cryptographic signatures confirming their authenticity.
According to a press release, this information can be used to automate key on-chain processes. For example, dapps will be able to initiate trading operations after a company publishes its financial report.
“Chainlink technology is the ideal way to provide smart-contract developers with direct access to reliable economic, sports and electoral data from AP. The collaboration with Chainlink will enable the integration of this information with any blockchain,” said Duane Desaulniers, AP’s Director of Data Licensing.
The agency began exploring distributed ledger technology in October 2020. The organisation entered into an agreement with the Everipedia startup—together they published data on the US presidential race on the blockchain.
In March 2021 AP put up for auction NFT, dedicated to a joint project with Everipedia.
In August, one of Switzerland’s largest telecommunications companies, Swisscom joined the Chainlink network.
