Asus graphics-card prices in China fall threefold amid mining ban
Against the tightening regulation of mining by Chinese authorities, the prices of some Nvidia and Asus graphics cards have fallen severalfold. This, reports the South China Morning Post.
The current price of the Asus RTX 3060 stands at 4,699 yuan ($730), almost a third of its May peak of 13,499 yuan ($2,100).
A less capable Nvidia Quadro P1000 now costs 2,429 yuan ($380). In early May it was sold for 3,000 yuan ($470).
In June, several regions began cracking down on Bitcoin mining, including Inner Mongolia, Qinghai, Yunnan and Sichuan. The authorities of the latter ordered miners to halt mining by 20 June.
Bitcoin miners at the Shandong Economic and Technological Development Park, based in Changji Prefecture (Xinjiang), also received orders from local authorities to immediate cessation of activity.
