ATM maker Hyosung to add Bitcoin and Litecoin support in the United States

The American unit of the South Korean ATM maker Hyosung will add to its developing app store the DigitalMint services, enabling the purchase of Bitcoin and Litecoin. In the United States, the company operates about 175,000 ATM.

«Оператор банкоматов с нашей программной платформой может загрузить приложение DigitalMint, […] создав новые источники дохода», — говорится в сообщении фирмы.

\n\n\n\n

Hyosang signed a corresponding agreement with the eponymous cryptocurrency payments provider. The latter developed API, which enables integrating the ability to buy digital assets into POS terminals and ATMs.

\n\n\n\n

The decision to enable such a service will be made by each operator on a case-by-case basis.

\n\n\n\n

According to Coin ATM Radar, there are currently 34 185 crypto ATMs in the United States. Canada, in second place, has only 2,530 devices, and worldwide there are 38 454 ATMs supporting Bitcoin and other digital assets.

Earlier in May, ATM installation activity fell to 2019 levels.
