The developers of the second-level (L2) Aurora protocol from the NEAR Protocol team have signed an agreement with ConsenSys, which specialises in building solutions for the Ethereum ecosystem. Project representatives told ForkLog.
Developers and users interacting with Aurora will gain access to ConsenSys’ software development tools, including:
- a non-custodial wallet, MetaMask;
- API from Infura;
- the blockchain platform Quorum;
- the Truffle suite of development tools for decentralised applications;
- Codefi, a DeFi-transaction monitoring service;
- a smart contract auditing solution, Diligence.
Aurora combines two core technologies: a fully functional Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) and a cross-chain bridge based on Rainbow Bridge. The protocol launched in May 2021.
According to the announcement, the partnership aims to expand developers’ capabilities by providing an efficient toolset. The parties believe that this will increase cross‑chain interoperability.
“Developer interest in EVM-compatible scaling solutions is growing at the same pace as the rapid expansion of the Web 3.0 ecosystem. We believe they will only benefit from adding Aurora to Infura’s toolkit, as this will enable using the NEAR network with familiar EVM tools,” Infura said.
One of the partnership’s near-term goals will be to advance the integration between MetaMask and Aurora.
As reported, MetaMask wallet’s year-to-date transaction revenue surpassed $200m. This is twice the total fees earned by leading DEX SushiSwap and Curve.
