Avenue Securities to launch cryptocurrency trading

The Miami-based brokerage Avenue Securities plans to permit cryptocurrency trading. Bloomberg reports.

The firm’s founder, Roberto Li, noted strong interest in the project in an interview with the publication.

\n\n

“According to its own surveys, about 15% of nearly 500,000 clients will begin trading cryptocurrencies on the very first day after gaining access to the service,” he emphasised.

\n\n

According to Li, the launch will be driven by increased competition in the sector this year. He added that Avenue Securities will work with several liquidity providers and will offer trading in “40 cryptocurrencies”.

\n\n

Avenue Securities was founded in 2018 and specialises in serving residents of Brazil seeking to invest in the American stock market.

\n\n

Miami has become one of the most crypto-friendly places in the United States. In March 2021, the city’s mayor Francis Suárez spoke of his desire to turn it into a Bitcoin mining hub and to create a centre for cryptocurrency mining.

\n\n

In November, he announced BTC rewards payout for staking the city token MiamiCoin.

\n\n

Earlier in fall 2021, Interactive Brokers, in partnership with Paxos, opened U.S. clients’ access to digital assets.
