Axie Infinity’s daily active audience surpasses 1 million
The number of daily active users of Axie Infinity surpassed 1 million, though far from all had purchased the tokens required to start playing. Sky Mavis, the studio behind the NFT project, said.
* Some players download the game client without owning Axies. There are still less than 1 M Axie owners.

According to Sky Mavis, two-thirds of users are on devices running Android. The remaining downloads were primarily on Windows personal computers. The iOS and macOS apps are used by just over 12,500 people.
The Axie Infinity client is free to download, but to start playing one must assemble a team of three creatures that are sold as NFTs. The prices vary widely: the cheapest продаются for $200-$300, with higher-priced ones fetching tens of thousands of dollars (the most expensive Axie was sold for $131 000).
The company stressed that Axies are still owned by fewer than 1 million people.
Players can earn in-game tokens called Smooth Love Potion (SLP). They can be used to create new Axies or exchanged for fiat currency. According to CoinGecko, SLP trades near $0.18.
Players earn tokens by completing daily tasks and defeating other players. The maximum earnings are 200 SLP per day or 6000 SLP per month (~$1,089 at the rate at the time of writing).
The play-to-earn concept attracted players from countries with relatively low wages (the Philippines, Brazil, Venezuela, Argentina). The model is also used by third-party firms — crypto guilds — which provide players with NFTs to start playing in exchange for a share of the earned SLP.
Revenue for outfits like Yield Guild Games can run into millions of dollars.

In a discussion with The Block, Axie Infinity CEO Alexander Larsen acknowledged that the servers were struggling to cope with the surge in users. The pressure became particularly evident after July 11, when the project’s audience expanded to 500,000.
Larsen noted that the team is working on scaling the project. In particular, they have hired new specialists.
As reported in May, Sky Mavis attracted $7.5 million in funding as part of a Series A round. The investors included billionaire Mark Cuban and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian.
